The summer course will be organized in a case-based learning approach. Course materials to cover in the summer course are:
- Local-ecological based agriculture (ethno-agronomy)
- Biodiversity and agriculture
- Smart-tech agriculture
- Biotechnology
- Conservation in agriculture
- Organic agriculture
- Agroforestry
- Nexus between local-ecological and modern agricultural practices
Learning resources to be studied in the summer course are derived from in-class courses that will be complemented with virtual field excursion (i.e., sandy-coastal areas, terracing, surjan system, agroforestry, and smart-tech agriculture in Indonesia). In synchronized with the in-class courses, participants will be grouped in several teams, of which each team will pick a case study to analyze and to offer recommendations. Prospective case studies, for example:
- Agroforestry and biodiversity
- Integrated farming and rural livelihood diversification
- Precision farming for small-scale farmers
- Biotechnology in developing countries
- Others according to students’ ideas
